While nothing except the "blank" item are particularly suspicious or problematic, I have my own opinions about some of this stuff. This is a list of what those items are so you can decide for yourself:
RTHDCPL - Realtek HD Audio Control Panel - Enables HD Audio on your Realtek audio chipset.
NvCpl - Nvidia Control Panel - Allows access to the Nvidia Control Panel from a system tray icon.
nwiz - Nvidia nView Desktop Manager - Manages display and multiple monitor options.
RECGUARD - HP Recovery Partition Guard - Prevents access to and deletion of the HP recovery partition.
** - No idea what this item is since no name or path are listed. Need to see the full Location listing.
HPBootOp - HP Boot Optimizer - Lets the system attempt to speed up the boot process.
IMJPMIG - Microsoft Input Method Editor - Enables input of Asian characters in MS Office aplications.
ImScInst - Microsoft Input Method Editor- Enables translation of Asian language characters in Internet Explorer.
TINTSETP - Microsoft Input Method Editor- Enables translation of Asian language characters in Internet Explorer.
HPWuSchd2 - HP software updater - Automatically checks for updates to HP applications and drivers.
qttask - QuickTime Tray Icon - Allows access to the QuickTime application from a system tray icon.
realsched - RealPlayer updater - Automatically checks for updates to the Real Player application.
avgtray - Tray icon for AVG Anti-virus real-time monitor.
ctfmon - Alternative User Input Text Input Processor (TIP) and the Microsoft Office Language Bar.
MsnMsgr - MSN Messenger.
AdobeUpdateManager - Adobe Update Manager - Automatically checks for updates to Adobe applications.
TeaTimer - Spybot S&D resident - Real-time monitor for Spybot Anti-spyware application.
Adobe Reader Speed Launch - (Theoretically) lets Adobe Reader open faster.
Compaq Connections - Compaq's way to spam you with (mostly) junk about ways to modify (i.e. bog down) your computer with programs you don't need.
HP Digital Imaging Monitor - Resident monitor for HP Director - Opens HP Director if a scanner is activated or a camera is connected to the computer.
** Microsoft Broadband ... - Too many different things this could be. Need to see the full Startup Item listing.
Thoosje Sidebar - Microsoft Vista sidebar.
aim6 - AOL Instant Messenger.
Now, for my opinions: 🙂
I would get rid of the Microsoft Input Method Editor items if you don't actually use/need access to Asian language characters. Same for the Office Language Bar.
I would definitely get rid of all of the software updaters (HP, Real Player, Adobe) since you can update them yourself and you don't need to have the updaters running all the time.
I would also get rid of the QuickTime Tray Icon. It doesn't really hurt anything, but I just don't like to let it run at startup. 🙂
After quite a bit of testing, I have never seen any Adobe application open any faster with the Adobe Reader "Speed Launch" TSR running, so I always shut it off.
Compaq Connections looks pretty useless so I would dump it as well.
HP Digital Imaging Monitor can be useful as an easy way to access the HP Director for scanning and transferring photos from a camera. If you don't use HP Director, shut it off.
The MSN and AOL Messengers are up to you. If you use them frequently, let them run at startup. If not, turn them off.
The Vista Sidebar is another one that is up to you. It definitely adds to startup time, but not significantly. Keep it if you like it, turn it off if you don't.
We need more info on the two items with asterisks (**) since I can't tell for sure (someone else might) what they are from your screenshots.
