whats a nice cheap pair of ram for p4 2.8c/p4p800se combo? i dont quite understand all the fsb-multiplier optimization thing. im currently using 1 stick of pc2700/ddr333 ram. can i just pick up another of the same type or is it better to get a different pair with different numbers?

thanks in advance

Your 2.8c is designed to run with pc3200 or higher memory. I use generic pc3500 in my p4 system. Crucial is the safest brand to work with, and lifetime guaranteed. You can order it from their website. Your setup is designed for 2 sticks to run in dual mode, but one stick will work fine if your short of funds. Don't mix pc2700 with pc3200. I believe pc2700 will work at a slower speed, if you can't afford the new memory right away.

Older motherboards won't even post with a "c" p4. Try your current motherboard with one stick of pc2700 and use the dividers in the bios under "frequency and voltage control" or similar title. If you don't see any divider settings, just leave it set at "spd". If your current stick of pc2700 won't work, sell it in your local paper, the greensheet, or on ebay, and get the proper memory for your cpu. Pc3200 is priced about the same as pc2700.

instead of a 2.8C, a 2.8A non-HT maybe better for you... or even a 2.8B....

these run off a 133 mhz fsb rather than a 200 mhz fsb so your ram won't go to waste if that's what you're araid of...
