Just got back from a test drive of the equinox, pretty neat car, interior has lots of cheap plastic etc. Will test drive the LaCrosse tommorow.

Have you driven the Camry? I highly suggest you try that out before you make your decision.

Yes my fiancee has a 2001 Camry, while it gets great mileage and drives nice it is hideous and lacks power.

get whichever one that best suit your tastes. personally i'd go for the plain jane toyota. no matter how much people like american cars, you'd have to admit japanese cars do have a better reliability record than americans, for the past 15 years or so.

Reliability is a non issue as it is a company vehicle.

i'm sure it's fun they replace the chevy every other week. you'd be getting the new car smell all year long!

i wouldn't touch any american that is first gen... ford focus and chevy malibu anyone?

but hey it's your car. the camry is my advice but the choice is yours. too bad they don't have something worthwhile except the camry and it's not a V6.

Which would you choose? Do not factor in MPG as fuel is on company as well. Edit I do not have any children I do have a fiancee, however I will be the only driver.
ahah, if you're not burning your money, who cares eh? 😉

Out of thoes I would still go with the camry.

You're to fvcking ignorant.

Dude, don't get the Camry, please.

I'd either get the Buick or Grand Prix!

Drove the LaCrosse today, very nice car seems much more put together than the Equinox and it has more power as well.

Actually, if you're not carrying 4 adults in it at all times the 4 cylinder Camry is very peppy. At least as good as the V6 American counterparts.

Are you smoking crack. I've had the misfortune of having a Camry as a rental vehicle. My little subcompact 125hp car has far more "pep" than that thing. The Camry accelerates like a turtle and handles like sh!t.

Actually the LaCrosse has the largest engine of them all

3800series V6 200Hp, the Impala has the 3400V 180Hp

The Grand Prix has the same 3800 engine, except the GTP has the supercharger but I doubt he is getting that.

Of those I would choose the Grand Prix or the Equinox. I would wager most people who mention Camry are just fanboys; the bare bones Camry sucks big time and probably has the weakest engine of the bunch. Not to mention aesthetically boring as hell.

camry is great. maybe matience dosent cost you money, but it still lcosts time. and time is money right. oil changes required only every 7.5k miles. reliability=less downtime. the 4cylinder is certainly fast enough. i did test drive the grand prix and impala the engine is nice, and good power but really lacks polish. it has problems with a bad powerband and just dosent feel smooth throughout. now the montana is a freaking van. equinox is good exterior bt it suffers from the 3.4l engine. not very smooth and refined with the powerband and interior is cheap(Nissian Altima cheap). the lacrosse is good and it's pretty much a toss up between a camry and montana. in the end though, id go camry. less time for matience, a refined smooth and predictable powerband engine, good accleeratino and handling(those of you that say otherwise, try to accleerate through a 90 degree turn at 40mph without problems. the road feel is muted though, but not any worse than the buick's horrible road feel(reminiscent of a lexus). acceleratino is good because you can push that 2.4l engine to it's limits without portest.

Compared to what? The GM crap listed as his alternatives or a Corvette?

You are the one smoking crack my friend.

Heh. And the Camry isn't a boring piece of crap? 😕

It's blander than vanilla, but I wouldn't call it crap.

I own a 99 Buick Regal (3800 SC)... and my mother owns an 04 Toyota Camry. I *GREATLY* prefer driving my car... not to mention it would blow the Camry out of the water without even trying.

I know that the Regal isn't in your lineup, but the LaCrosse is the closest vehicle to it... I would probably go with it - though I haven't driven one of the new ones, myself. Following that, I would go with the Grand Prix... and then the Impala. I would *NOT* get the Camry or Montana... and I have no opinion on the Equinox - never driven or been in one.

...but the Camry will, at least, be in the shop less than the others.

dear ignorant atot car fools.

listen, you may be foreign vehicle car humpers but if you look at the choices he has, just because its a toyota doesnt mean "omg its an awesome car" the buick in all honesty will be a better driver, more refined and smooth of a vehicle. it has power and the ride to back it up. julesmaximus, i wish ONE TIME, just ONCE you would shove your fvcking tounge down your throat and stop being a completely ignorant foreign vehicle car whore. please take a look at what is actually being offered, sure ill admit in the past domestic vehicles suck compared to foreign, but before that foreign cars sucked HORRIBLE ass compared to domestics. Seth is doing the right thing, but yet the wrong thing. do NOT post on atot about cars go to a car forum for that atot has a bunch of car enthusiast posers. most of us talk out of our asses when it comes to cars. however you are doing the right thing by going out and test driving each and every car.

Same here. I wouldn't call it crap, but it's no joy to drive--even with a stick-shift. In a car like a Camry, shifting would just be an additional chore, since the car is too big, too slow, and too soft to drive very hard anyway. IMO, it's not a very stylish car, either.

If I was buying my own, and it had to be new, and those models/option configurations were my only choices, I'd probably choose the Camry for depreciation and long-term reliability. But if it's a company car, I don't need to worry about those things, so I'd choose something else.
