I currently have a Dell dimension 8400. I want to upgrade it so that I can run BF2 a bit smoother. Right now I have a 3.2 Ghz, 1 GB memory, and 256 mb 6800 GT.

I want to upgrade to at least 2 GB of memory, In hopes load times for BF2 and just general computer use will be improved.

The dell 1 GB modules are over $200, and I can hardly see why anyone would buy their brand for that price.

Right now, my memory is set up in dual channel 512x512.
Should I go for another Dual channel setup, or buy just a 1 gb module and leave 1 slot open for another future upgrade?

Oh and I need 240-pin PC4200 DDR2 533mhz memory as well.

I'm looking at pricegrabber/newegg now trying to find some prices.

is dual channel just a setting in the bios? Or do you actually have to buy a "dual channel kit"? Going to be ordering some memory soon to try to boost my ability to actually play BF2.

No you do not need to buy a dual channel kit. That is just a marketing thing.
