Hi, Help me decide between these two.

Nexus 5 & Sony Z1 Compact.

I would have chosen Nexus 5 except for the build quality not so good compared to Z1 C, camera, sound quality, loudspeaker etc. And i am unable to decide on Z1C because of only 4.3 inch Vs 4.95 of N5 as well as some scary stories of the screen cracking. Can someone suggest?

Why the Z1 and not the Z3, just a cost issue?

I would go with the Nexus. 4.30" v. 4.95" is quite a large difference. I do like my Z Ultra, but it does have some quirks being a first generation device. Sony's Triluminus display on Z1/Z1 Compact/Z Ultra is quite immature compared to what they have now. It might be a different story if you are choosing between the Nexus and the Z3/Z3 Compact.

Which part? 4.3" v. 4.95", first gen quirks, or first gen Triluminus display?

The size part should be self-evident. As to the first-gen quirks, it is tough to explain because they are far and few in between, but one thing I occasionally experience is the screen sensitivity at notification area. Sometimes it takes more than once to bring it down. Many say it has to do with the screen protector they applied on their early Z phones. I believe Sony did away with factory-applied screen protectors later.

Triluminus display on my Z Ultra has a really strange gamma correction, making certain photos/videos look weird. I think Sony was trying to transpose its TV technology on it, with an emphasis on deep black and higher gamma point. I am not anal on color accuracy on mobile, but I do notice it. When I saw the Z3 at a store (albeit a while ago), it did not look like my Z Ultra so I am guessing Sony improved it.

Anything else? :p

Edit: Wait. I mistakenly thought Z1 = Z. Hmm.. I am sorry but I am not confident what I said above applies to the Z1.

How much are you looking to spend? It just seems like there are a lot better options out there than those two.

I would do a Nexus 5 all day. That will be the only one that for sure gets Android updates in a year.
