Neither, I think Sony makes a terrible product, utilizes planned obsolescence, has terrible customer service, and has unethical business practices. I'd suggest a Canon or Nikon. dpreview.com is a good site for reading up on them.

Like most of the brainwashed sheep here I'd get a Canon A80/A85 or 400/410 instead. In fact I did get an A80 recently.

i would take the first one for the larger LCD. Other than that, I'm fairly certain both of these use the same CCD's and gives tha same picture. I would personally stay away from Canon because the pictures their camera produces have horrible color reproduction, and often appear grainy. Minolta (merging with Konica) seems to have the best color reproduction right now.

I think Sony makes a great dig camera. I have had one since '99 and no problems whatsoever. Between the 2 I would choose the first, because it has a bigger lcd.

I'd take the 100s -> small, slick camera.

If it was my money, I'd go for s500 canon 5MP or the nikon equivalent.

Nice camera but I prefer my 10x optical zoom Olympus C-770 ,getting back on topic I would take the Sony DSC-W1 between the two.

Well to be fair I bought my a75 not because anyone told me to but because of many glowing reviews and the inability to get this many features on other cameras in the price range. If I could go back though, I'd possibly get an a70 instead.

What About Canon's E17 (or E7) error that people are getting hit with? Don't tell me that is Canon's fault~

Not aware of that, what's the story? At any rate, people are much more likely to not deal with a company if they've personally had a bad experience with them than if someone else did, obviously. That's how Sony survives... well, that and having a wide range of products to attract people who haven't previously bought the brand

I actually have an A75 and played with a friends A80 for a day. While the A80 is a better build camera, I like the A75 better - mainly for the LCD.

I got an a80 and its great. I think you shouldnt get a sony because you need sony memory cards and they can be more expensive.

It looks like they have the same lens. I would check on the battery life between the two and the brightness of the lcd. Also, the Sony's use proprietary battery packs which can be expensive. But if all things are equal, I'd go with the larger lcd.

I have a couple of digital cameras. My cheap Fuji's lcd is small and useless in the sunlight, but batteries last forever in the thing, so i don't usually get stuck at a job site without being able to take pictures.

I have a 5.0 megapixel Olympus C5050Z that I have taken several thousand pictures with in the last couple of years. It takes great pictures, but it can eat up batteries when using the flash, definitely won't fit in my pocket, and could use a little more of a zoom range. But the buy price was right at the time and it uses AA rechargeables. Plus it has a lot of features, many of which I am just now starting to explore.
