I only play Counter Strike and Age of Mythology, and I want to upgrade my current video card (geforce2 GTS 32MB). Can anyone suggest a good card for under $100, and how much better performance should I expect ?? I want a card that has a stable driver since my gaming rig is also a file server (win2kserver) for the whole house. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanx

;) Search for similar threads. GF3 are decent if you don't mind sacrificing non-gaming aspects. Rad9000PRO, Rad8500LE, Rad9100 and Rad8500 and are all great all-round cards (that's in rough order of speed BTW). You may just get a GF4TI4200 which is the fastest and much better all-round than a GF3. Any of these cards are very good so see what prices are like. The Rad8500 series is known to vary so do be sure of clock speeds and Dual RAMDACs before you grab one. You don't need 128MB but it makes sense as it costs little more, the 8500 series, 9100 and GF4TI all gain a slight perf boost simply by having the extra RAM present so keep this in mind too. A lot can dpend upon your CPU, what are you running and any plans to upgrade it?

dont see as youd need anything more than a gf2gts for counterstrike, but newegg has an 8500le for 70 bucks or so shipped, good card

Well currently my computer is running asus p4b533-e with 1.8Ghz P4. The special thing about this computer is that I have 6 15k drive (raid5) for my home file server (win2kadvsrv). I have a few other computer with the same spec less the 15k drive raid (dual IDE raid 0). Currently all my computer are running geforce2gts 32mb and Counter Strike is lagging badly. I need to upgrade one of my computer so that I can play CS and AOM.

;) Yeah. If you do need something now a Rad9000PRO, Rad8500, Rad8500LE or Rad9100 are all good choices and well under $100. I'd rec you get a GF4TI4200 which should be VERY near your budget limit, that will get more from your decent CPU. Rad9500 and the other GF4TI aren't really worth the extra cash at the mo, if you want to pay $150ish then the Rad9500PRO is by far the best choice but a lower Rad or GF4TI4200 should suit your needs perfectly!
