Well, I've narrowed down my choices to these two monitors,

ViewSonic VX2025WM 20.1" $329 on Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116381

Acer AL2216Wbd Black 22" $334 on Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009094

These are (from what research I've done) the best monitors for my price range ($300-350 or so) ... Please help me pick one, or even suggest another monitor in the price range. I need a monitor that won't ghost because I am a gamer, and ascetics are also a factor in my choice.

Thanks

check out my thread for some info on the 22" acer and other models using that panel. If you are willing to spend $350, i would seriously consider the dell 2007wfp. it uses the best panel around these days.

The Acer if you have a really good video card(8800 gtx or gts), The Viewsonic is good, but the Acer is larger.

So according to that website xNIKx posted, the Acer ghosts quite a bit, yes? I mainly want the monitor for gaming, the extra 2" that the Acer has isn't that big of a deal to me, as I consider 20" more than big enough. I guess I will take the Viewsonic over the Acer, but I have also looked at the dell 2007wfp, but I am concerned about its response time of only 16ms, will it ghost in games?

EDIT: compared the dell on the before mentioned website and it indeed looks like it has the best picture and least amount of ghosting, I am quite sure this is the one I will be purchasing.

Thanks for the help guys

Before you buy the viewsonic, have you taken into account its problems? The most notable of these is DVI port failure, in which, from what i've read, the DVI port on the monitor randomly fails. It can occur the day after you get the monitor or 6 months after. Backlight bleeding is a problem with many of the monitors. Also, People have had problems with 1:1 scaling especially with nvidia graphics cards but I think this isn't a big problem for most people. Finally, the monitor is not adjustable i.e. no pivot, swivel, height adjustment etc.

You might want to check out this thread. It's pretty long but all the problems listed above are discussed.

If you still havent ordered, and are still looking around, THIS monitor is apparently on par with the VX2025.

Back when these monitors were a lot more expensive, it looked like the Viewsonic was just a tad better in some areas. And I honestly dont think the VX2025 is worth that much more.

Even better, with a coupon code, the BenQ is $213.73 shipped. If your interested just PM me and I will send you the code.

I prefer CRT monitors for rock steady image and fonts. alot lcds i seen have blurry fonts. had to use cleartype font and still not great. lcds seem set at default resolution, once you alter it off that default it dont look good. where can i still get a large crt from the uk that display 1600+ resolution at 85hz+, iiyama and others have stopped making. a lcd that display 2000 res would cost alot!
