I am trying to find a good GPS unit for my wifes Christmas present. I am in need of a unit with bluetooth that can send and recieve both calls and text messages. I thought I foud such a unit in the Magellan Maestro 4350, however upon testing it in my local electronics shop I found that her phone is not compatablie with this model (Her phone is a samsung A523) However moy sony W810i worked flawlessley.

Does anyone have any recommendations on any units that can do this?

Thanks!

i have a 2 year old Garmin Nuvi 760 that has bluetooth for calls/text, so it shouldn't be too hard to find in that line. Apparently the most recent iteration is the Nuvi 765T. Garmins are usually a bit more expensive, but the response is much faster than any other GPS's I've seen in terms of acquiring a signal.

and you can send/recieve text messages from that unit? that is awesome, I was reading online and was under the impression that the 760 and 780 could only do calls.

you can send txt from the GPS, but it won't save onto the phone, which is quite strange. keep in mind that txting varies alot amongst phones, so I was somewhat lucky with a Samsung, but alot of phones are hit or miss on being able to txt via bluetooth.

I am not sure about compatibility with your phone, but I would personally get a Garmin! However, stay away from the 750 model.. I had lots of trouble with that one locating satellites no matter where I was..this thing was almost useless
