Ok, So I'm redoing my system and I am seriously considering buying a new case. Right now I'm using a cheap case I got from a friend for 5 dollars, and I'm selling it with my old system so its time for a new case and Power Supply. I probably have up to $80 dollars to spend, but I would like to spend less(shipped prices).

Here are my requirenments:
Up to 23" tall (so it fits under my desk's keyboard drawer.
5 external Drive bays: I have 2 5.25" drives(cdrw, dvd) and 3 3.5"(floppy, jaz, and zip), but I have 3.5 to 5.25 converters, so I need at least 2 5.25 and at least a total of 5 accessible drive bays. I only have one internal hard drive, but I wouldn't mind some room to grow.
Power supply (I figure at least 300watts, but I don't need a monster)

Things I would like, but don't have to have.
Quiet. I don't really over clock, so I would rather have a quiet than a super cool(temperature wise) case
USB ports: I wouldn't mind some front usb ports, but I can live without.
I perfer less screws, to more screws.

Given that, I find that I have an enourmous amount of choices. I don't really care about styling, or color at least not if it makes it more expensive.

System I will be putting into it:
Athlon 800
Epox socket a motherboard
hard drive
cdrw, dvd, floppy, jaz, and zip.

Cases, I've looked at:

Hmmm I was looking at that case, its a little more than I want to spend, considering its $98 shipped....

Whats the difference between the "soho file server" and the "workstation" except for the extra drive thing on the fileserver case and the door on the file server?

It seems like they share the same case....

Thanks,

Orie

I just built a system with an EVERCASE E4252w005A bought at newegg for $22 and a Herioichi 350w Power supply (Newegg $44)

Case has (4) 5.25" slots and (2) 3.5" bays accessible with two more internal.

Dimensions are 16.5" high x 18.5" deep x 7.5+" wide. Comes with a side inflow fan. I added an 80mm panaflo rear exhaust on the supplied cutout. Power supply has 2 fans.

Case has 2 usb ports and 1 firewire on front pane.

Case is screwless. Only gripe I have is that the Motherboard mounts directly to the case, so I put electrician's tape over the holes before installing the MB. Just my preference.

One nice thing is that all the 5.25" drives mount screwless and the 3.5" cases pop out of the case for easy installation of the hard drives and floppy.

I got the power supply separately because I wanted to control the quality of the PS, not the case vendor.

Hope this helps...

I'm looking at that case.

Whats the quality of the power supply that newegg sells with it?

Thanks,

Most mid-tower cases will fit your requirements, In fact I prefer some cheap cases because they do away with a lot of clutter such as drive rails and excesive screws. I would suggest focusing on a good quality quiet power supply. i.e cheap case with no power supply and a sweet 300W+ quiet AMD approved power supply and some quiet cooling fans

this place has a few cheap power supply less cases.

As for power supplies either Antec or Enermax whisper

and for fans go with PC power and cooling(my personal favourite) or panaflo
