Help me choose a 815E board please (Abit, Gigabyte or MSI ?)

Senior member
I have seen excellent advice in this forum.

Can you guys please help me decide which board
I should buy ?
I was going to get Asus CUSL2 after reading
Anand's review, but I don't think I can
wait any longer.

Here are the boards that available atm :
Abit SE6................$165
Link http://www.abit.com.tw/english/product/se6.htm
Gigabyte GA-6OXM7E-1....$145
Link http://www.giga-byte.com/gigabyte-web/products/6oxm7e.htm
MSI 815E Pro............$167
Link http://www.msicomputer.com/products/detail.asp?ProductID=146

Please help me decide, which board has the
best features, reliability, and which company
has the best support.

Thanks.

Oh btw, I'm going to run this board with
P3-700e and hoping to get as high as 933.

Stay away from Abit... even though they sound like a great product, lately they have had bad workmanship, and they have the worst RMA program going... $25 just to send it back...

Look at Gigabyte or MSI....

yes I read his review, but he DIDN'T review
Gigabyte board there.
So we don't know whether the Gigabyte is better
than MSI board or not.

In my opinion the best available i815E is Asus CUSL2, MSI MS-6337(i815E Pro) is a very decent board as well.

i agree with you Lxi...but CUSL2 is not out yet...
probably another 1 or 2 weeks before I can buy it.

Well if you're in hurry to get one, just go for MSI. Not a bad choice at all. Heh... MSI is a company good enough to make me hold back on anything before purchasing. Even if Asus is out, Ill have to wait and see how MSI does before making a decision. Right now Im just waiting for an MSI review.

If you need to make the decision now, get MSI, unless you like the blue PCB of the Gigabyte(they dont overclock very well).

Gigabyte is like an Asus without the tweaking/OCing features. MSI is a balance between the two(reliability-tweaking). Abit is way way way over at the tweaking/OCing side. Tyan, is very reliable as well, but their motherboard designs are not attractive at all. Soyo is kinda like MSI too.

I guess Gigabyte is out then.

Ack, I just found out that MSI board
is not IN STOCK.

Man, I hate waiting.

The CUSL2 has been available now for a week from overclocking retailer:

If you live in the USA, all you need is Visa or Mastercard, no big deal that they are in Canada.

I seem to remember seeing it somewhere else, but can't remember where.

It's worth the wait...I have the CUSL2 and it's the best motherboard that I have had for a long time. I'd rather wait just a little longer, rather than ending up regretting my decision later on.

AsusUpdate included with CUSL2 is cool. It allows you to update BIOS directly from Windows. And it works...😉

Somebody in the last posts mentioned a board powered by an i815E Pro. What is the difference between this and the i815E or i815 chips? The last two are the only ones I've heard of.
