".... It's like five hundred (dollars?) ................ you (will/would) never get (robbed/wronged/wrong) ... that way"

(inaudible)

"It's so like ... what's happening like ..(kicked) ..... put my ... through, broke in there ... like uh... "

".... I didn't (get/do?)... that much.... probably like, six hundred all together"

I'm still going through, I will work on it for a while and see what else I can get, but that's just the first bit and it seems to confirm what you already suspected.

How are you "equalizing" the audio ?

You can file a police report and ask the police to request the caller's information from your cell phone provider.

Every cell phone call information is recorded and databased. You might even be able to call your cell phone company and ask for the caller phone number on that date and time. And because the orginating call came from a cell phone, the providers will have the information for sure.

Is there something that was stolen that there were 8 of? 8 console games or something? They seem to be bringing that number up a few times.

I would say that would be enough to at least charge them... they mention it several times.

I am going to go timestamp all the lines I pulled so you can use them

The police can't do anything with that audio that would directly result in getting your stuff back. Not only is the voicemail almost unintelligible, nothing short of a confession on it will prompt the DA to show any interest in the case. The most they could do would be to go and question the kids, perhaps convince them to confess. Take the law into your own hands, and get your stuff back without going to the police.

I'm curious - why did he have $900 bucks in his room? I rarely have more than $75 dollars on me at any one time.

Steve

this is fun listening to this conversation over and over! lol...

this is what i hear:

it's like $500... you'd never get your ass kicked that way.. it's so like, what's happening like, someone took a chair to break in there or something... shouldnt be that much... prolly like $600 all together....... i only got maybe 8 back there... sweet....so bad....dude they coulda snuck in easily dude...arabs.. err, not arabs, iraqis...background talking....8 minutes.......

i dont get the impression that they are talking about a place they just broke into.

Thanks for your advice, officer.

I edited my post above, and put down everything I heard, along with some suggestions.

Like I said, this audio along isn't going to bring them in, you need to talk to as many people as you can, and see if anybody noticed anything. If you are SURE that it's them, convince a detective to bring them in for questioning, and perhaps play the audio recording. If anything it might scare them into confessing, because nomatter how unintelligible it sounds to us, they will remember exactly what they were saying, so they'll assume everyone else knows as well.

---
How long was the timeframe that they had to break in? Based on the time the message was left, and the timeframe that it could have happened in, you can better pin down the exact time. While it is possible they were in a car listening to the news, it is more likely that they were in a house, as it's unlikely that these types of people would be listening to the news in a car, as well as the echoing of their voices in the room.
---

The better you know the exact time of the incident, the better you'll be able to place them there.

Good luck!

Dont forget to keep the orignial audio. The Court may decide to not allow your edited version due to it being...edited....
Dumb I know, but better safe then sorry....

Good point... keep it on your voicemail as long as you can.

Thanks for your advice, officer.

I've dealt with police. I've dealt with lawyers. I've dealt with DAs. Police (for the most part) are totally incompetent. DAs (for the most part) are totally uninterested in a case unless they can win. They don't want to waste time on tiny cases with (relatively) meaningless outcomes. This "case" won't make it to any court, you're better off using other tactics to get your stuff back. Trust me.

I work with police on a regular basis, and I am good friends with several detectives.

You pretty much ended your argument right there, kid.

Breaking and entering + theft of over $500 isn't going to make it into court? Too bad nobody got killed, or he would have had a chance!

you're better off using other tactics to get your stuff back.

Right, kid... keep thinking that. When you wind up in jail for "using other tactics"... oh wait.. nevermind, I forgot... police are incompetant, and your case would never make it to court because the DA doesn't want to waste time.

Trust me.

I never doubted you!

And just for good measure...
