Help me build my rig

Well I had a system picked out, but I decided to scrap it. First off I want to say, AMD or intel is fine, I just want to get the most bang for my buck. I have about an $800 budget. I am looking to get: At least 100 gigs of storage, a CD drive / burner, prefferabley an asus mobo, but it doesnt have to be an asus, and want to be able to hit 3ghz (dont care if I have to OC). That being said, there are a couple things I will need that aren't really part of the system. A keyboard and a monitor (CRT is fine). Thank you for your help, please include links to newegg when giving suggestions. Oh also, I already have a very nice antec case, so dont worry about that. Thank you

For just $800 you'll want the Athlon XP threads and perhaps Hot Deals forum for the hard drive and burner.

800$ Budget is a lot for a nice computer...
Heck you can build a decent PC for 300$ these days if your really savvy

Marble, upgrade to a 9800, but get a good Samsung 17" crt, that would be your best choice.

I think that I would use this HDD and this Heat Sink and Fan instead because of the more cache for the HDD and the silent Fan for the Heat Sink. Just MO.

Edit: Sorry didn't see the change in the HDD.

Sorry didn't see the change in the HDD. As far as the HSF I suggested I have it, mine hangs around the low 40's under a load. What does yours get up to?

What about the OS? Is Marble going to use WinXP Pro? If so that'll add another 141.00. Unless he is using something like free Linux OS's.
