Help me build my computer

he is right tho. stop asking stupid questions like "rate my setup" and "would my CPU explode if i put some TNT on it" or "what brand DVD burner to buy".

Yes. I hate how people come here and ask questions. There is no reason why they should not know every thing about computers and what to buy that I know.

Yeesh...

Although 1/4 of the posts on the first page are on this topic, it doesn't have to be pointed out. Really, it doesn't. 🙂
Tas.

The trouble is we're such newbie-huggers around here. Anyone caught gratuitously spoiling newbies and first-timers ought to be banned, that's what I say! :|

😀

(you got a point, though... the GH forum is becoming the rate-&-critique-my-build forum lately)

that's exactly how if feel too,if they would take a while reading the forums the good choices do make themselves pretty clear.

I guess it's just easier to just post "build me my stuff" I'm too lazy to read up on it.

because most people posting are kids these days. look at their grammar and spelling. so many noobs and they don't even want to read.

besides everyone asks the same damn thing anyway... is the lanparty mobo good? is the 3520A good? is the antec 480W PSU good? jebus...

Seriously guys, this is a hardware discussion forum, the point of posting here is to talk/ask about computer hardware. I'm sure asking help building a computer qualifies...😛

I agree mostly.

I'm ok with "I picked this, and this, and this, but I have a couple of questions.", but I draw the line at "Hey, I want a computer. Configure it for me." :frown:

Isnt that what this forum is about? If I had a bunch of guys jump on me because I wanted to know if my configuration was good before my first build, I wouldnt feel to good about that build, or Anandtech for that matter.

And I hate the people that say:

"Ok I'm gonna go with this this this and this, please critique my build but do not convince me to change anything."

I sorta agree with Budman.

You will rarely see me ask for advice around here, since all you have to do is search or read the other threads here to get the answer you need.

I knew very little about computers, especially building my own when i first arrived on this forum.
I have a learned a ton just from hanging around here, so much that my friends are always asking me for advice like i know everything (which i sure do not), which is kinda kewl.

That being said, i also like helping others with advising on the components they have decided to buy.

I think most n00bs really appreciate getting the immediate help we offer since research can be annoying & boring 😛, which is why we see the zillion "rate my rig" threads here.

Frankly, i think we should have a sub-section, Rate my Rig or sumthin' like that...

Well, before I built this comp six months ago I had no idea what was going on. To me, bigger HDD = faster comp.

But as soon as I found these forums I signed up and started asking questions about general things, like AMD vs Intel, things about ram, video cards, and whatnot. I did a lot of research myself too, but I found that posting was the easiest way to get straight answers.

I found that as long as you use proper grammar, aren't too dogmatic about your posts and remain pretty open-minded, people enjoy answering your questions. Hell, I had you guys pretty much build this comp for me.

That would be a good ideal but the answer would probably be " not gonna happen" . :disgust:

Yeah it won't.

This forum honestly needs several more sub-forums like Programming, Games, Rate my Rig, Monitors, etc...ah well.

What is more appalling is that there are generally three or four posts on the front freakin page of the motherboard forum, asking our opinions of the same three or four boards! I've never felt the need to grow my e-manhood by being a "repost nazi" or "use the f-ing search button nazi," but I seem to be turning into a "read the #$%& first page" type.
