Im looking for a releastic but kick ass system. I already have a 20" mon. So im just looking for the pc. Its seems from what Im reading that AMD 64 is the way to go? Im looking high end but not $$$ so as to make it redicoulous.

There are a LOT of posts about this topic in General Hardware; perhaps you should try searching first, then asking more specific questions if you can't find another topic that discusses what you're looking for exactly? You'll get better responses that way.

Short answer: I think A64 is the way to go for a gaming system right now (unless you want to super-overclock a P4, but that's more expensive and you'll need real pricey RAM). You may want to wait a few months and see what happens with the whole Socket 939 thing, since Socket 754 is on the way out (although if you don't intend to keep the system for more than 1-2 years, just go ahead and buy; if you get a 2800+ or 3000+ A64 now, you'll be able to go up to probably a 3700+ on Socket 754).

you should also wait a couple of weeks until the new cards from nvidia and ati come out. seems like you got a pretty decent buget to spend so i'd go with the athlon 64 also.

I agree with the other two on waiting. There's a lot of new things coming out that should replace current standards. That's why I upgraded this one a bit instead of buying a new computer for college.

If you are intent on buying soon wait at least a few weeks for the new set of graphics cards to come out, otherwise go with a A64 3000+ or if you got the money 3400. But i will agree that waiting for a month or two right now is looking good.
