I'm trying to play Dune 2000. GeForce2 MX vid card, KDS RAD-5 LCD monitor, Windows XP, 1024 X 768 res. I have updated video card drivers, monitor drivers, latest game update, yadda yadda.

The effect I am getting is, well, about 2" of each side of the screen is cropped when the game is running. I can adjust the monitor to correct, except for vertical size, which there is no adjustment for. I've tried everything from auto tune, to manually adjusting all settings. No worky. Its like a small screen bring forced to display a much bigger screen.

No other program seems to have this problem. Dune 2000 runs in DirectX, and I checked all the DX stuff. I'm getting tired of muckin around with this.

Any ideas?

Try it in 800x600 and see what happens.

Let me know about the results and we can go from there....

a) It is outside the native res of my monitor, so it looks like crap.

b) It still didn't work. It changes resolutions when it starts Dune. Same results as 1024.

searched google and found complaints like this "Strange resolution choice of 640x400 seems to cause problems on some 17" or bigger monitors."

15"??? What do you want with that??? Go get yourself something decent.

<edit> Of course it doesn't support that resolution </edit>
