Whats a good book to buy that can help me use Dreamweaver 4.0 to build a site that looks like Toms or Anands or Tweak3d?? I am a complete newbie with Dreamweaver... After the design is done it will be changed to PHP so i can use the PHP DB to control the whole thing

Putting it together in dreamweaver is easy as hell, its getting the graphics right that's hard.

I learned what I know from just fooling around...Dreamweaver is a such a simple program, buying a $40 book would be a waste when it can all be learned from the help files. Just MHO of course... but the books do exist, even if they are just a rehash of the help files.

Go to macromedia's resources site. They have many links/tutorial for Dreamweaver.

 i dont get what you are saying. and tables cannot be beside eachother btw. Anandtech is just a bunch of tables and cells and tables within cells, etc.

The only way to get tables beside each other is to make one table (say with 3 columns) and then put individual tables inside each column.

do this...under IE, go to View>Source. Copy everything, and paste it into Dreamweaver. You'll see how its done.

Do the lessons that are included with dreamweaver, there's one on tables. They're VERY good.

I will suggest fireworks for the web graphics, it links nicly with dreamweaver. And making image maps is EASY...

Do it if you want the Mods knocking on your front door to show you "how it's done"...

What's wrong with looking at source code to learn how to do web pages? That's how I started learning, even now, if I see something I like, I'll look at how it's done to learn. Is that illegal.

Looking at the source to learn it is perfectly acceptable. Why would Microsloth have put the option to "view source" if you weren't ever supposed to use it?
