I've had the same hair style for the last 12 years and i'm finally looking to change it up. Below is a picture from a few years ago that shows how i normally wear my hair. I haven't cut it since november so that i have a little more length to yield more options.

please help me with some suggestions, hopefully with pics of examples.

what i'm looking for:
- professional, yet casual (or a changeable style like "hair up or hair down" like my hair is currently)
- low maintainence. i'm kinda done with spiking the front of my hair up, would prefer something that will fluff/stay/hold by itself without the need of products. something i can wake up, maybe fix with my fingers, and then go with.
- nothing too short. i want my style to be thick and adjustable, nothing like a buzz cut.

decent picture of what my hair usually looks like (several inches longer atm)

help me ATOT, you're my only hope.

1) Don't get so much trimmed on the sides/bangs... makes you look like either a child or someone who has a receding hairline. Let the sides grow out a bit more

2) Don't use shitty gel (assumption based on the 'oops, came in my hair' look in your pic).

3) Ask your barber/stylist to texturize your hair next time. Basically depending on the person doing it there are two different ways. Some people use a sort of special razor/scissor to make your hair uneven lengths..feels like a slight tug when they do it. Others just manually cut some pieces more than others when it's being cut. This will give the appearance that it's slightly fluffed up/messy(in a stylish way) just by running your fingers through it and look like you have product in it when you really dont. It also makes you look like less of an 8 year old boy.

4) Do something with those sideburns.. they look like they were hacked off at a weird angle. Let that part of your hair grow out a bit more along with the bangs in step 1.
