those genres dominated whatever radio station you listened to. my guess is that you did not listen to, care about, or even know the extent to which electronic music permeated everything.
hey, i listen to jazz, i listened to a lot of jazz in the 90s, therefore the 90s were dominated by jazz. that's your argument.
Maybe you were too high on ecstasy and vicks vapor rub, or the glow sticks warped your memory.

The 90s are known for grunge/alternative music, NOT techno.
Techno was big in the 90s for sure (mostly the second half), but nowhere near the scale of grunge/alt.
And yes, this was mostly due to radio play.
