Good budget subs, but won't hold a candle to any SVS or HSU. Of course, you get what you pay for ;)

I agree.

I had the 10" and was quite happy with it for the price but I wanted more so I went up to the entry level SVS.

I don't know if your EzSet is anything like the MCACC setup for my Pioneer, but I dont' think I'd be able to move the mic fast enough for its tests even if I wanted to.

Does it say anything about it in the manual?

EzSet. I was not aware you could access or modify the EQ.

For EZset it should be facing UPWARDS and at ear level with the volume set to -28. The mic should not move during the test.

The NEAR FIELD measurements are where you move the microphone. These are what do the EQ

here's my set up for under $2000

Pioneer 1014 A/V receiver
Paradigm Studio 60s fronts for music
Onkyo HTIB for movies

I need another $1200-1500 to replace that horrid HTIB rig.

Anyone wanna buy a used Onkyo 601 receiver?

Reading this post made me realize I was saying how I had my mic wrong. I meant upwards to for my Pioneer mic, but the front edge of it facing the center channel.

(my mic looks like this)

You could probably find a taker in the FS/FT forum... or look at audio threads in hot deals, peripherals, off topic, and general hardware. People are always looking for $150-ish receiver recommendations.

Are you adding to your Paradigm set to make it a movie set too?

Dayotn 10' is best for it's price of about $140 shipped. They just released a 12" 150 watt last month for about $160 shiped. Again, these are best in class. I have since upgraded my Dayton 10 to an SVS 16-46pc+ which is an upper mid level sub ($900 delivered or so) and their is no compare.

The amount of bass, depth and air this thing moves in my Apt is unreal.

Watching Sin City last night was great as that is a relatively bass heavy flick, but watching something like the incredibles or even blackhawk down (F'cking Irene) is INSANE.

My sofa feels like it has massagers in it. The low end (my SVS is tuned to 16hz, but does about 13-4 +/-3db in room) is CRAZY. Irene scene has some bass down to 5hz.

Sick how clean, deep and tight this SVS is!

A $150 Dayton is not in the same class.

Like comparing a Kia to a Phantom!

Well here's what I did (and it's pretty good).

I manually set all speakers to small, 10 inch sub, 80hz crossovers on all including the sub. Then took the mic with the extension rod and stuck it between my two back seat cushions with the bottom of the mic resting on top of the cushions. This was perfect. Then I ran the manual test. Oh yeah. Volume to -28 and sub volume control to 50% (12 o'clock).

Then I ran nearfield by putting the rod on a tripod and tilting it 60 degrees between the upper third of the speaker, 18 inches back. Did this with L,R, C.

Everything sounds much better now. My only complaint is that the fronts don't seem to be blending that well. Or the center is too strong.

I own a pair of Bose 901 speakers, and a Lifestyle 25 system. If this tells you anything, I am going to sell my Lifestyle 25 system, and the 901 speakers will be the first to go once I have enough saved for a new system.

I visit several home theater and audio forums, and quite a few audiophiles tend to rave about Axiom speakers. They are only available through web purchase, but they are priced as competitively, if not more so, then anything you can find in an electronics store.

Look @ Ascend Acoustics as well (www.ascendcoustics.com).

They get RAVE reviews as well (and certainly from me).

Many have preferred them to Axiom in head to head (Axiom tends to be on the bright side).

Yes, except my screen is uneven in color/brightness. I think I've figured out that it's burn-in from the outline of the slideshow of remote pictures that Logitech has on as a default when you put the thing in the charging station.

I e-mailed Logitech about it and they're sending a replacement after seeing pictures I took of my screen. So, hopefully this other one is not going to be more of the same, but I'm kind of expecting that it will be so I don't get my hopes up :)

Overall it works great. I still have a couple things I want to program into it, but I haven't gotten around to it. (Just a couple more buttons I want as options for changing settings on my receiver)

The screen thing isn't really noticable. It's just that it seemed to be getting worse so I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to keep it from getting worse.

So, yeah, I'm happy with it :D
