so basicly i just bought a brand new raid max x-1 gaming case for my hardware. Core2duo 7600gt and etc new power supply. Anyway i installed everything i had a few problems and didnt get anything showing for a while but finally got it going. After getting it going i had strange heart beats in my chest like i was being electricuted possibly. They were intense. as well in windows my core usage indicator shows core 1 is now using 99% of its capacity and core 2 is using 1%. This is incredibly strange since usually its both cores sitting at 1%...anyone have any idea what could be wrong...the electric shocks just recently dissapeared...did i kill one of my cores? is that even possible? btw im using vista

WTF man? Were you touching the case the whole time or something? If not I seriously doubt you were being zapped, it doesn't jump large distances unless it's very high voltage, and then it is called an 'arc' or lightning. You would have noticed it.

Not that there's definitely nothing wrong with you, heart palpitations can't be good can they... do you have a pain in your chest? Perhaps you should see a doctor?

/edit: BTW - I don't know why you have full usage on one core, but it doesn't sound like you're a very technical person, maybe you should start again with a step by step guide?

check that the back of the MB is not touching the metal of the case and that the whole thing is grounded well.

1. Vista may be doing background setup things since it's a new install, like indexing, downloading updates, etc. (Read this thread carefully: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...tid=34&threadid=1999401&enterthread=y)

2. Your heart is not linked to your computer unless it's stress over getting it to work right. In that case, don't worry; it's not that fragile and won't break easily unless you physically smash it with something. Otherwise, what Atheus said; see a doctor about that.

and yeah actually i went to a doctor..turns out its stress, but anyway my core is still acting up...its acting up enough that my computer is slow now any more ideas?

Open up Windows Task Manager, and see what's using up those cycles. If you were using XP, it would probably be Dr. Watson, especially since you're overclocking. I don't know if Vista has Dr. Watson, though.

the thing is its a fresh install and i havnt installed anything since, i did the fresh install before i did the case transfer and everything was fine, it only happened after the case transfer. Meaning no new programs no changes to the computer what so ever

alright i hcekced it out and from what i understand it could just be indexing? because iv only had vista on for a day or 2 now and not long at all, i shut my computer down all night due to the "electrical" shocks i thought i was experiencing
