Ok guys here's a run down of my system:

Tyan Tiger MP S2460
Visiontek Geforce 3 ti200
Dual AMD XP 1700's
2 256MB 2100 DDR crucial ram
3 HD's
1 Teac burner

My problem:

Can't install OS's (win2000 and winxp) with my geforce. Even after installing OS's with my old video card (voodoo 3 3000), after putting in the geforce, my system becomes unstable. By unstable I mean, system reboots itself for no reason, can't load windows, windows freezes, non memory parity errors. I get these errors even before I can install drivers for the card. Now I know the geforce is fine cause I put it into a friend's system whose setup is almost the same as mine(he has 1 gig of ram), and it works perfectly. My system is 100% stable with my vodoo 3 so it doesn't seem like the other parts either. I've been working on my computer for the last 4 days only stopping to eat and sleep, but still can't get it working.

If anyone has any solution, please tell me. I'd hate to be stuck with a voodoo forever

Oh yeah some more things, my friends geforce2 ultra works fine. All these cards are AGP.

Did you apply both Win2000 service pack2 and the newest version of directx before installing the geforce3 drivers?

That's what i would try next.

I tried to reply to your PM to me on this matter but you havent gotten your PM enabled so I couldnt reply.

Install the 21.83 drivers and you wont get NMI errors. YOu can use up to 22.xx drivers but nothing in the 23X and up untill you do the registry fix, which I dont have on hand to give you. The 21.83 are very good and stable drivers. You can download them at www.Nvidia.com

This is a common problem with the 760MP boards

Ok here's what's been happening. I finally got winxp stable with the 21.83 WHQ drivers, but the system still freezes when running a 3dmark2001 benchmark demo. It also freezes when running media file. So basically anything that uses the video card's processing is freezing after a while. The geforce isn't o/c or anything and my cpu temps are around 50-53 C during heavy proccessing. Any ideas what may be wrong? Right now I'm going bare with just C drive, geforce and NIC.

Update: After unplugging all devices (extra HD's and CDrom) the benchmark seems to run longer, but still crashes after a couple of tests. My power supply is an enermax 465P-VE which should be able to handle this load. Still puzzled as ever.

Fu*k it, I traded it for my friend's gf2 ultra. I've spent too much time on it than it's worth. Thanks for everyone who tried to help me.

It's almost certainly due to the heavier power requirements of the GE3 Ti200, I had similar till I installed a 400W PSU.

Well I run a Visiontek GF3 original, and it works great in XP, no lockups, like you were experiencing. Maybe the card you had was bad or you just had the drivers so fragged up with all the attempts. Sometimes you really have to do a good house cleaning to get them all out.

BTW I have seen an awfull lot of peeps use emermax on the Tyan MP boards and many said they had problems with them. Most who use the 400 and up Antec have great results. FYI

Having been in the www.pcnineoneone.com forums for a while it does seem that power supply voltage regulation is an area that AMD should look at more in depth before authorising them as being fit. note that AMD have a disclaimer at the top of their authorised power supply page.

I would like to re-iterate (maybe you can get your card back?) that it is important in which order you install things. First off I would make sure you don't have anything in pci slot 1 second I would suggest that you install windows first, then any service packs, then any motherboard drivers that came with the motherboard, then video (det 21.83) then directx 8.1 then add in the drivers for your other components saving the sound card drivers for last. Also some people say that putting a sound card in one of the last pci slots makes for a more stable system (not sure, but sometimes anything is worth a try)

If it was MY GE3 Ti200 I would be absolutely sickened at giving it away when I know they work & don't have major design faults etc. I have been exhaustively & systematically working on my mates PC for the last two weeks, & have re-installed twice, swapped Ram, CPU & now my power supply off my machine & at last it is coming to a conclusion, that the PSU is to blame. My point is; don't quit, you can 99.9% of the time get things to work & you learn a lot as you go through stuff like this.
