Help! Lost my data! (Update)

Well I accidently Fdisked the wrong drive and lost all the data on my data storage drive.

Isn't the data still there when you FDisk? Anyway to "undelete" and get the partition back? Any programs to do this? Partition magic?

Help me out guys, no smart comments please just help me out, thanks.
 
There is a utility called R-Studio. It's shareware you can download. I haven't used it, but supposedly you can recover files after deleting partitions, so it may be worth a shot. Just Google it.
 
don't add ANYTHING to that drive!
It will permanently overwrite what was there before
I repeat, do NOT add ANY files or ANYTHING to that drive!
 
Update: Got my data back, cost $50 for the software but it was worth it. For the record, the shareware will allow you to view the lost data but not recover it.

On a side note, I got a quote from a data retrieval company who said they could "maybe" get the data back and they wanted $200 up front if they succeeded or not and between $3000 and $5000 depending on how long it took!

so it worked well ? what program was it ?
 
R-Stuido would not install so I used dtidata. It worked great, it took about three hours to scan the drive (30 GB) and make a list of what is there. After than you drang and drop to another local drive through its file browser.
 
Good to hear. It's hard to imagine it taking 3 hours.
Yeah, it's crazy how much the data recovery companies charge.
I work for the countries largest film manufacturer and we just spent $3000 to recover some very important data from the crashed hard drive of one of our managers who didn't seem to understand the concept of backing up to his network share where everything would have been backed up to tape once a day.
