Help, lop.com has taken over my computer!

I'm running a FireFox browser, and now sometimes when I try to visit a particular site I get re-directed to lop.com. My Internet appears to be working fine and I can ping the site just fine also, but when I try to visit the site in FireFox, I get re-directed to lop.com. This happens off and on. Sometimes I can access the site just fine, then boom, lop.com starts coming up over and over. Then I wait awhile and I can access it again. I have run three different spyware remover apps, and none of them has worked. Help!

BTW, I have tried three different browsers: firefox, mozilla and IE. All three of them exhibit the same behavior when my computer goes into lop.com mode.

These forums & other forums mostly. But it is weird because it can start happening with any site. Sometimes I'll be cruising Google for some random thing, click a link and BAM lop.com.

adaware and spybot

you might want to think about getting some good AV software before you go to any more porn sites or download anything else from your kazaa, bittorrent, etc...

Spy Bot didn't work. I'm still being redirected to lop.com.

Yeah, I've had hijacking software that updated Spybot and Adaware wouldn't eliminate. I tracked down a "manual" solution (step-by-step instructions on which files to delete/rename) by Googling the problem.

I didn't try Hijack This that Amorphus suggested. You might try it and install a firewall when you get it cleared up (if you don't run one already). I assume you're running anti-virus.

Good luck!

yeah Hijack this takes care of things spybot and adware didn't ... but they don't have the message board ne more for which files to remove. :(

I just ran adaware, I'll see if this clears up the problem. Apparently it caught a bunch of junk that spy bot and the other anti-spyware apps I ran didn't.

Download Hijack This - it'll clear up any registry/hosts file issues, which is what it sounds like is happening. I used it earlier today to get rid of a search bar that both Adaware and Spybot both did not even detect.

HOT DAMN!!! Thanks for the link!!! Just got rid of something that none of the other 7 programs did!!

Have some  on me. Hell, have a six pack!:beer::beer::beer::beer:

I gave him the link to BOTH Hijack This and CWShredder (download page for both of them). :|

His problem would be gone already, if he'd listen. :|

I have Hijack This, but it didn't help get rid of the problem. What is CWShredder?

In any event, so far so good. After running adaware no lop.com.

CWShredder = Cool Web Shredder. it gets rid of a lot of annoying hijacking search pages and stuffs.
You should unzip it and run it just in case. It's very fast, and you can see the pages it checks for.
