Help - Long pause during POST

Hi everyone,
I have a Gigabyte 8INXP running Bios F5 with a P4 2.8 and 4x512mb of Corsair PC2700 runnning 1 GB per channel in dual channel mode.

This just started happening today....

The Bios is hanging for 2 minutes during post. It always occurs just after the CPU is identified. I see the following:
Main Processor Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz (133x21)
CPUID:0F27 Patch ID:0027

Then nothing happens for about 2 minutes and the bios continues loading normally. Since this is happening just before the memory is identified, I tried using all 4 of my memory chips one at a time but that had no effect. I've re-flashed the bios as well and it still hangs for 2 minutes at every re-boot.

I've tried a different video card and also disconnecting everything but the main hard drive and nothing seems to work. I'm baffled, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.
Hugh

I've seen this happen on some boards if you don't disable functions that aren't being used. For example, if you are using only one LAN, try disabling the other one in the BIOS. Also, be sure your drive options are set correctly. If you're not using SATA or RAID, make sure they are disabled, as well.

BTW, did you mean 8NXP? I couldn't find 8INXP on Gigabyte's site.

Thanks for the quick reply Harvey. The board is listed, it's right under the GA-8IMMT4.

Everything that's supposed to be disabled in the bios is disabled. I've had this board for about a year and this problem came out of nowhere today.

I disconnected everything from the board except for video, cpu and one stick of RAM and she booted normally. Then I added everything back one item at a time until I was back at my original configuration and it now works. Go figure!
