HELP LOL! URGENT

hi i was trying to open an exe file in notepad, and accidently pressed Paint. i pressed ok and went to open my file, and it goes

Paint
---------------------------
C:\Documents and Settings\Arr\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\EasyUO.exe
Paint cannot read this file.
This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported.
---------------------------
OK

it also does this with EVERY program! i tried going into the registry to find the exe extension crap, and i get

C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe

Right Click over Start>Explore>Tools>Folder Options>File Types>see if that file is there in the list, and see if you can modify it. Give that a shot.

How did you manage to do that in the first place? When I right click on an application, it won't let me specify "Run With" or anything...

Tough one here my friend, you can try deleting the settings and see if Windows restores it to default. I'm not guranteeing it, but its worth a shot.

i deleted the settings, and now nothing happens when i click on an exe file.. OMG

Can you right click over the program you want to launch and see what the default path is?

Lets say if you had msword on your quick launch, right click and see what the properties are pointed too. You might have redirect all your .exe quick launches short cuts to their default paths.

the other trick is to rename regedit.exe -> regedit.COM

bypasses reg exe handler, but still loads just fine

ROFL, sorry, but that's one funny problem!

BTW, opening an exe file in Notepad is a waste of time anyway(if it even fits). You'll just get gibberish.
