HELP! Laptop was accidentally placed on power magnet!

I accidentally placed my laptop on a powerful security magnet! The hard drive kept giving me an error on startup so I decided to format and take off the file system. I repartitioned the hard drive using partition magic or and then formatted it. However, i keep getting a problem in windows. it says something like the partition was dismounted incorrectly. i tried repartitioning with windows startup cd and partition magic. both of them do it, but then windows stops installing at 75% when formatting. andif i skip formatting it stops copying the file at a certain point. I opened and checked hard drive, its a toshiba one and there are no hard drive utilities tat i can find on toshiba's website. can somebody please help!!?!

We used to use a degausser to wipe HD's at Intel. You should see what it does to 3.5" drives.....POP! No more plattens, heheheheheee! 🙂

no way to try some recovery methods? I might have just actually dismounted the partition incorrectly by just keleting it intead of formatting it or something?

Seagate and Maxtor diagnostics have a generic test that you can run on the drive and may be able to use to zero/low level the drive out.
