Help! Keyboards suddenly wont work on my system

Had a power outage yesterday and my rig went down (no ups) and when i booted up windows was corrupted...so i reinstalled windows. was going fine until all of a sudden after installation my keyboard wouldnt work in windows. it works at bootup and at the OS selection menu, but not in windows. what could cause this? I cant reinstall cuz i cant enter the serial number. 🙁

sorry, thought i said that.Yes, the keyboard will work on other systems. No, working keyboards from other systems will not work on it, except in post/DOS.
 
the power surge may have killed the super I/O chip on the motherboard but it's odd that it boots,
you might need to try a usb keyboard in the mean time

i cant see how that would be the case if i can use the keyboard during boot and in windows repair (DOS). It just doesnt work in windows.
 
well im gonna do a full reformat and reinstall. this is gonna literally take a day to reinstall all my proggies though. 🙁
