HELP! IRQL error installing Windows XP Pro. Now w/ error codes.

I get an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error when installing windows xp everytime. First i though it was because my hard drive was partitioned into two, so i unpartitioned and put it all on one drive, but i still get the error w/ blue screen.

what the hell is this error......i tried installing xp like 10 times now and everytime i still get this error!!

check your ACPI and power management stuff in bios, might need a bios flash/update.

also disable all shadowing, then tell me how it goes.

I am just quiting now and reinstalling windows 98 se. I am so fed up w/ microsoft.........

I tried switching both modules of ram and installing xp again and it still did not work so it wasn't the ram......i tried it w/o the modem....not modem...............i stopped there..........

as for the bios update, i can't even find the motherboard manufacturer's website....its a Camaro motherboard w/ VIA chipset and AMD K6-2 533mhz...........compaq 7478.............

Disable ACPI and see if it works. THis is a tough one, but in the past, it has been that issue in installs I've done.

Man oh man, if anybody ever dared to tell me to disable my ACPI the first think I'd do is respond with a vicious HOW?

get into bios (usually delete or F1 during the initial boot screen) and it is usually under the chipset section in the power management option. Should be able to select ACPI, APM or none.

lol, just blame it on Microsoft, hu? Most likely the problem is an incompatible driver trying to be installed. I got the same thing when trying to install XP with some bad RAID drivers. Based off the error codes, I would guess (keyword is guess) that it's a problem with a video card driver. A conflict with the hal.dll file. I got this from the 0x807D4AD4 error code. hal.dll usually is associated with video I think. Maybe this will help a bit.
