Help! Internet instability after formatting

Hi, I am having a problem with my internet after a reformat. I am currently using Window xp SP3 and Gigabytes DS3 V1 or V2. Anyway, I formatted my computer last night and installed sp3 and the latest lan driver from Gigabytes website for my motherboard. The problem is that my internet would disconnect and reconnect randomly, which can be very incovient. Any idea what could be the cause and how do I fix it?

If your using a Wireless Router then re-install the drivers for it. Maybe that'll help! 🙂

Is you connect wireless? Or is it wired? and I would like to know what is you ISP, and what brand and model number is the router that you use?

There could be three problems with you connection, one is that you ISP is has crappy uptime, you router is having problems, you have a bad cable, or you NIC on you Mobo is going out.

I am connected direct to the router. I am using ATT/SBC and I am using dlink WBR-2310. I through about that but before I formatted my computer, this rarely happen. Maybe once a while but not 1-2 time within 1 hour.

I just tried using an old pci nic card instead of the onboard ethernet, same problem, but maybe not as frequent. No way to tell sicne I don't sit in frotn of my computer to check how often does it disconnect. What else count have cause this problem. Couldn't be a virus since I just reformat my computer and I did a scna with nod32 last night.
