help: intel pro/100+ management NIC problem

hi,

i got this intel pro/100+ management NIC working with my kt7raid for a couple months trouble free, seemingly. After i put on the first directX8, the network connection won't work any more. everytime I transfer any significant amount of data to/from the box(>2MB), it will say "network resource no longer available..." after timing out. while my other boxes on the same lan(different segment) don't seem to suffer. I removed the directx8 and put a directx7a, still the same; put on directx8a still no avail. (windows98se)

I use the latest intel proset driver and monitoring tool. the diagnosis will always say ok, though no sustained data transfer is possible. If the card is defective, how would i know - any other power diag tool? anybody knows the warranty info on this NIC? how to verify it?

would appreciate any help!
Thanks in advance

Cooltech, thx for ur reply

I agree it may be fishy to blame it on directx8 whatsoever... just need a clue... It smells like a h/w glitch if not a failure...

BTW, besides win98se, the win2k and whistler2416 yield the same frustration for that NIC... since intel prosetII won't say anything helpful, is there any other h/w diag tool that may be helpful on find some info?

Thanks
