Help installing the AMD heatsink

Hey! I'm a novice building my first system. I've bought an AMD Anthon XP processor kit that included a heatsink/fan. The directions depict removing a plastic film from the bottom of the heatsink before installation, but my heatsink came with a pinkish looking square stuck to the bottom and a plastic cover. Do I leave that pink thing on the heatsink or peal it off? If I do leave it on what exactly is it?? As usual the directions don't match the parts. Thanks for the help!
