Help Installing SLK-800U

Hey, I just recently bought this heatsink. I'm trying to install it right now, but the directions seem a little shady. I know you're supposed to use some arctic silver 3 or some paste like that to get the heatsink to stick to the cpu, but am I supposed to put the cpu in the mobo first and then put the paste on, AND THEN stick the heatsink on? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Putting the thermal paste on the CPU before it went in would probably be easier since the motherboard might not make it as easy to spread it evenly. Thats what I would do. Of course.. since I have a 900U, and an AMD mobo.. I cant really open up the socket to put the CPU in/out since the standoffs are in the way.. so I just apply a layer to the base of the heatsink itself

Well, I got an AMD mobo also, and i was reading the instructions to install the hs and it just didn't make too much sense. Well, it never says to throw on the paste, that's why I'm not sure at what point to throw the paste on. Well, I'm not gonna do this tonight anywayz cuz i don't have isopropyl or a lint free cloth. Oh yah, at the bottom of the heatsink, there was like this protective sticker, when I peeled that off, there was that sticky stuff that stickers leave behind. Any ideas on how to clean that off? Or will the rubbing alcohol work on that also?

Well, I put it all together...actually, almost all of it. I haven't put the heatsink fan on yet. why? Cuz i'm not sure which way the air is supposed to blow...is it supposed to blow towards the heatsink/cpu? Or is is supposed to blow away from the?

Set the fan to blow onto the heatsink. Having the fan blowing/sucking away from the heatsink is good for the Alpha PAL heatsinks
