Im trying to install my new sound card (SB Live ! 5.1 digital entertainment) and every time i try i get an error: DATA IS INVALID (pic is HERE: http://forums.off-topic.net/attachment.php?s=&postid=2154115 )

My machine:

asus a7v266-e MOBO
256 mb ddr ram
win XP
amb xp 1600+ cpu

When windows loads, it finds the card, and i also have d/l the xp drivers from creatives site ( SBLiveXPDrvUpdate.exe ) but i get the error: Data is invalid when it tries to install it.

anyone got any ideas? or know anywhere that i can go to ask about it?

try different PCI slot to avoid IRQ conflicts. I have the same card, but i cant get all my speakers to work because the drivers are really bad for WinXP, the "Task, Preset" in the "Speaker" section in AudioHQ has no settings whatsoever, hence i cant use my speakers to watch a movie, no "movie mode"

The filename should be SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe.

Uninstall the XP drivers that XP installs by default then install the SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe.

And I have settings under Audio HQ for my speakers, 2 , 4 , 5.1 , Live surround + headphones.

Look HERE for the drivers.

there is no SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe under those choices... there is SBLiveXPDRVUpdate.exe.

the place on creative.com; the only place they had it was at

http://www.americas.creative.com/support/

then you can click on: Audio Products; SoundBlaster Live!; SoundBlaster Live! XX 5.1

then it brings you the infamous SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe
I dont know why its so inaccessable, and not on every part of their support site. but there ya go, whoever needs it

Snayyar, thanks for correcting that, guess I shoulda downloaded again & checked before posting.
(I dont, I keep all drivers in a backup folder for future use)

And youre right, that darn SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe is buried & WAY harder to find then it should be.

Anywhooo... The point is to try the SBLive51XPDRVUpdate.exe. instead & let others know how it goes.

I am also having problem with the same EXE for windows ME , after i run it nothing happens ,only getts a message that copying files in temporary directory and some file called as sbl51.exe is dumped in the same folder and nothing happens , even after running the Dumped exe nothing happens.
I dunno what is the problem is i am having Cel600 with i810 board.
My computer crashes many times when playing games and other stuff with a humming noise from speaker. The Sblive is using shared IRQ of 10 with USB controlleer.
