Help installing SATA drive

I just bought a Maxtor Diamond Max 10 SATA drive and am having trouble setting it up. It is a 200gb drive but when I format it, if only reads as having a capacity of 127gb. I have never installed a SATA drive before so before contacting newegg to get a replacement, I just wanted to make sure that there isnt anything I am doing wrong. It is the only SATA drive on my system. My other primary drive is a western digital IDE 80gb drive and that is where windows is installed.

i take it that the big drive enabler is for sp1? is there a way to enable a big drive without sp1 or 2? with just regular xp pro?

Yes, there are other methods. The only one I can think of is to partition the hard drive with FreeBSD's sysinstall. I am really not familiar with Window's methods for enabling the larger drive, to be honest. I know that Microsoft has a support page for it because someone in the past provided a link to it in a thread similar to this one but I cannot remember how to find it.
