Help installing processor!

Ok, this is my first build. I got my new board (a8n-sli) and processor (3000+). I laid the processor into the socket lining up the gold arrow on the processor with the arrow on the socket. The processor seems to fit down good on the socket. When I go to lock the level down, it takes more force than I would of thought. I decide to lock it down but when I unlock the lever I can't seem to remove the processor as easily as before I locked it down. I was thinking this mechanism was a zero-force mechanism and very little effort was required to lock it down. Have a screwed it up and how do I remove the processor correctly?

Any advise and support is very appreciated!

Make sure you are taking the lever all the way back up to make it perpendicular to the motherboard. If you are only taking it up to like 75-80 degree angle instead of the 90 degree angle, the processor wont come out.

That was it. Thank you! I guess either the socket mechanism isn't 'zero-force' or I'm just a wimp! 8)

Thanks again.

I haven't come across a ZIF yet that truely required ZERO force... Usually I have to "wiggle" them side to side just a wee bit in order to get the pins to slide into the holes. With my last 939 CPU it must ahve taken me 5 minutes to get it lined up properly. I kept having to try inserting different corners 1st and then wiggling the rest of the CPU pins into alignment.
