I just got all of the parts for my computer and will start building soon. This is my first time building a computer, so I don't exactly know what I'm doing. I plan to use the retail HSF that came with my Pentium 4 along with Artic Silver III. I read the instructions on the Arctic Silver website but they only confused me. The thermal pad is the black stuff on the bottom of the HSF right? What do you reccomend for taking it off? I've heard that it's hard to scrape it all off with just a credit card. I have plenty of paint thinner, would that work? Also, where do you apply the Arctic Silver? Once you remove the thermal pad from the HSF, you just apply Arctic Silver to the same area and rub it in, right? Where do you put the Arctic Silver on the Pentium 4? All of the CPUs on the Artic Silver website have a small, raised rectangle in the middle, but the Pentium 4 looks different to me. One side is covered with pins, and and the other is a large, flat silver rectangle area. Do you cover the entire silver rectangle area with Artic Silver? How thick the layer of Arctic Silver be? Thanks for any help, I can't wait to get my computer up and running.
