Hi,
I recently bought an external USB-IDE HDD enclosure for a couple of my existing HDDs, and I'm trying to get them recognized by WinXP. XP recognizes that there's a USB-IDE bridge, but I don't see the HDDs in explorer or disk management. Is there anything else I need to do to get my drives recognized?

Here's what is normally done. First, make sure the HDD is mounted and connected correctly for both data and power. Second, connect the external drive's power source - brick or direct A/C plug. That should make the drive spin up - maybe light up an LED. Then connect the USB cabale and hot plug it to your running computer. In a few seconds, that should give you the dong-ding chime that it has been seen, and it should be in My Computer. If that fails, then you may have a drive letter conflict that requires some manipulation in Control Panel, Admin Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. Oh yes - make sure the drives jumpers are set to Master.
