Help! Installing a SCSI drive

Electric Amish

Elite Member
In Windows 95.

It boots, but I can't see the SCSI CD drive. I can access the SCSI hard-drive, tho.

The CD player works because I used it to install Win95.

The SCSI adapter is listed in the Device Manager as ?Other Devices.

When I try to update it's drivers the system hangs with an hourglass.

It's an Adaptec 2490UW card.

TIA

Go into the SCSI BIOS and make sure that it sees it from there. Couple things to check....termination and SCSI IDs.

Like DaveK said make sure everythink in ok in the scsi bios. If all is well then try to manually install the latest win95 drivers manually in windows. (download from adaptec's website).

I have an adaptec 29160 installed in WinXP. WinXP saw the scsi card and installed the correct drivers automatically. Win95 is not as good at detecting, so a manual driver install will likely be needed.
