help installing 320gb hdd

i just got my new pc. i hav a 320gb sata hdd but windows is only detecting 300gb. can any1 plz tell me y this is happening. is it some compatibility prob with windows xp. i have installed windows xp with service pack 2.
remaining config:
intel e6320
intel 965 classic
big nvidia 8600gt
2gb 667mhz kingston ram
500w power supply (VIP)
 
Nothing is wrong, its just a difference between how drives are sold (1gb = 1,000,000,000 bits) and how they are measured by the os (1gb = 1,073,741,824 bits (1024^3)).
