Help in Nvidia Video Card comparison

Hope someone can take a look at these 2 cards and give me an assessment on the overall differences in real world capabilities and differences..

Foxconn 8800GTS 640MB vs. E-GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB

Reason I ask is my nephew wants a card and can get the foxconn for about half the price of the 9800gtx

I have been out of the game for way to long to be honest to him....

9800gtx+ is much faster. good deals on cards that are faster than the 8800gts 640mb are:

9600gt, 9800gt, 8800gt, hd4850, 9800gtx

^The 9600GT, pending the application, would range from not being faster to being only a little bit faster than the 640MB 8800GTS.

So, your nephew can pick up a new 9600GT for around $80. If he's going to pay more than that for the 8800GTS, then I would advise he look at an entirely different card altogether. And to answer your question: If I had to put a number on the situation, I would say the 9800GTX+ is about 50% faster, maybe more maybe less depending on the game and settings used.

Take a look at Tomshardware. The difference is substantial across the board.

I'd go with either a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB or a 9800 GTX.:thumbsup:
