Help: Im a girl. I find it very difficult to make friends with other chicks.

I leave this thread for 30 mins and I get all this encouraging responses. 😉

I was kinda worried about my friendship trends, to tell u the truth. Most of the girls Ive met are secretive and totally unsincere in their approach, which I cannot stand. I especially despise girls who have all the sweet stuff but behind you dunt wanna know wats happening.

I can count up to 3 girls at most, who I can call friends. But they're not around.

So I guess Im normal then. 🙂 I can count on my male friends and Im glad.

Seriously though, girls I know personally say this too- it's common. My sister frequently talks about girls that will 'stab you behind your back' when you're not looking, etc. I think it has a lot to do with maturity levels of dealing with other variables on the part of the second party. Would make for an interesting psychology subject...
 
Actually, I have the same problem. It's not so much that I don't like girls as they don't seem to like me. For one thing, I refuse to put them down or manipulate their weaknesses to my advantage. I don't flatter them and don't need anything they have. I can't, in turn, be manipulated and I offer only what they need, not what they think they want. I'm a real asshole. Even worce, I'm the same with men. Fortunately, I know one or two men of similar attitude and we seem to kit it off OK.
 
This is a sticky wicket for most of us, Juniper.

I tend to get along very well with other women because I have 2 older sisters. We fought like cats and dogs sometimes but we also love each other dearly. They taught me how to ride a bike, throw a softball, and put on eyeliner. 🙂 I learned how to give them the respect they needed from me and to make them comfortable with my presence. Once they understood that I was an ally and not a competitor, we got along just fine. There is something really wonderful that happens when women can get along, and I hope that all women one day know how lovely it can be when women nurture each other instead of compete and fight with each other.

Unfortunately, there are always the women who are looking to be "the Queen" or "the Princess" or somehow be the center of attention. They haven't understood yet that ALL are Queens and Princesses and that the power is shared, not divided. I think once they realize we are all sisters, they are much happier.

Too bad we can't all get along... if we could stop fighting over men, we could overthrow them and make them our slaves. 😉

Juniper, Isla reminds me that we are all the same. We all really want to be friends. It's just that we've been made to be very afraid. Intimacy is an openness into which one can slip a deadly knife. We were all beautiful trusting children, once, but we got raked over the coals real bad. It takes tremendous courage to trust after that. It takes time, effort, and it doesn't hurt to know the nature of why it is we are so closed off now. There are lots of people in this world who choose the Light, the Good, who are willing to risk taking a chance at being alive. The more you become the friend you want to find, the more like a lamp that attracts moths you will become. You have to understand that that will frighten some people because it will temp them to let down their guard. Not everybody understands enough to risk that.
