I heard a song on the radio the other night, I know it's a couple years old because I have heard it before. I don't really know any of the lyrics... all I remember is this portion:

" ...so far BEHIND"

There's a slight pause before the word "so" is sung, and there is a slight echo effect on the word "BEHIND" This portion of the song comes immediately before the chorus.

Also, it is NOT Far Behind by Candlebox.
 
I'm going purely off of a flawed memory here... but it sounds like the chorus starts off

"This is the life".... [I don't know or remember what comes after that part... or if it's even right]

Anyway, this is driving me nuts!
 
Hmm, you said alt rock, so I guess it's not In Flames - Borders and Shading. That and the song is fairly recent (2004).
 
No, it has a very pop like melody to it, nothing quite as hard as In Flames.

It's a radio single... anymore ideas?

Is the lyric closer to 'Baby baby baby this is the life, oooh ohhhh, this it the life'? If so it's from an Oingo Boingo some whose names escapes me but I can go check if you think it's right.
 
The search is over! I heard the song on the radio while I was at work, wrote down some lyrics and then came home and DL'ed it. The song is Miss Murder by AFI. So, I was way off in my original post and some subsequent posts.
