Help ID a species of fish

My grandpa gave me a new fish for my birthday, but I don't know what kind it is. He said he thought it was some sort of oscar, but I know it isn't. It's some kind of cichlid, though (has all the same body characteristics. Its about 2" long. Here's a pic of it: http://www.priceyoursite.com/bds/media/new_fish.jpg

Actually, it'snot a cichlid afterall. A scat is a fish that lives in Austrailia among the mangroves. Gets to be about 10-14" long and can live in both salt and fresh water.
