HELP! I think my gerbils legs are broken!

Hey My gerbil broke her leg to when she was only 1 and a half years old. My mom brought her to the vet and they said that they couldn't do anything about it so they told us to see if it will heal on its own and if she starts peeing on herself they she can get a affection so we waited a couple of weeks and she was doing fine until one day she started to pee on herself and we had to bring her back to the vets and we had to put her down so she wouldn't go through any pain.

Is this an anal gerbil we're talking about?
