Help i think my email accounts been hacked by a virus

I just recently got weird emails after a program got on my comp and random popups and random programs on my computer. Now today i got emails saying stuff like "wtf" and "stop spamming me" and very profane messages. On top of that ive been getting emails saying msg's undelivered. How do i fix this problem? I have peerguardian and norton antivirus and firewall and adaware.

You opened the program, so its too late at this point since its already got your email now. I would do a clean install to be safe, but your email is probably now being used all over to send mail from, ex: somebody that got an email from you and opened it too.

Never open executable files that come in an email, wether or not you have a virus scanner. (if its a new virus it wont get picked up)

i never open attachments with my email. I got something from a site by a mistake and it started this crap. I got 2 more emails from people and one threatening to take action. I already reformatted because of the spyware but it didnt fix my email. ill try to change my email account's password. i would really hate to delete my email accounts just because of this cause i had them for several years now and use it for important things.

Stop browsing the Internet, IM'ing and checking email while you're wielding an Administrator-level user account. Instead, make a new Administrator-level account named Admin or DANGER or something, then switch your regular user account to a Limited account and use that for as much as practical. Expect some "gotchas" like some games where you'll have to run them as the Admin account.

Also, if your Norton is older-version stuff from years ago, it's time to toss it and get something from this generation. If you need free/cheap, then try AntiVir, which is free for home-user situations. If you want something from the top of the charts, try a free 30-day trial of Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 6 and see if you like it enough to dish out money for it.
