Help, I think my arms are rotting off

I work at Chili's washing dishes and I wear rubber gloves to protect my hands. Well today my arms were really bothering me and I noticed I was developing rashes. I thought maybe I was having a reaction to some of the food or something, but after getting home I've noticed it's all over my forearms, my hands seem to be fine, so I think it's from the sleeves of my gloves.

I've been wearing these gloves for about a week now and this is the first time this has happened. They do get soaking wet every day, I usually come home wet from the chest down. Usually I pop them in the dryer, sometimes I don't have time. Could I have gotten an infection, or does this look more like some kind of allergic reaction?

I think I should put some kind of lotion/ointment on my arms, but since I have no idea what this is or how it happened I'm not sure what to get? The rashes burn/sting and there are some swollen patches around my veins.

I have to work again tomorrow, which sucks cause my arms were bothering me all day, and I left my gloves at work tonight, so I need to pick up some new ones. Should I just wrap my forearms in plastic and hope for the best?

Its the dishwashing detergent. I spent 5 years doing pizza and manned the sink too many times to count. My arms would always break out like that after I had sink duty. My solution was to go and get some sensitive skin dish soap from Kmart. Wearing the gloves is probably going to make it worse since they are going to be rubbing up against your arms. I saw people tape up the top part of the gloves to keep the water from getting in there. I think it helped them, but who knows.

I would ask if they have hypo allergenic dish soap. I am almost sure they can order it. If they can't, see if they will let you bring in your own. If all else fails, try taping up the top to keep the water out.

Or just chop off your arms.

EDIT:
Also change your water more often. I just remembered that the greasy water would make it a lot worse. Also make sure you aren't using too much soap.

You could have a latex allergy or maybe the soap.

Weird thing is I've worked about 7 shifts and tonight is the first time this has happened, could it still be allergies in that case?

Get some really long sleave gloves, I think they do sell them. If not, find a retail job or something even fastfood would be better as long as it doesn't give you rashes.

Hmm, I actually run all the dishes through a machine, so it's not like handwashing in a sink. There is a powdered soap that gets dispensed into the machine, I suppose it could be that. Like I said though, I've been working with this machine for about a week now and didn't have this problem until tonight. I guess I'll try keeping the gloves taped up and maybe wrapping with plastic, thanks for the input.

Sometimes it takes a bit before it starts bothering you. Happened to me with super glue fumes - yeah, superglue of all things. Didn't used to bother me at first but then one day when I was gluing something it suddenly felt like my nostrils were on fire. Now I have to be careful about it. Really weird.

I'm not sure what your duties entail. When I ran dishwasher duty I never really got wet when I was a feeder, and the only moisture I got as a puller was from the rinse water. But I would suggest trying to keep yourself dry. I usually wore latex gloves, thermal cotton gloves, and then another set of latex gloves. This kept the thermal gloves dry, they were useless once they got wet.
