For god's sakes man don't lift weights. A bunch of guys in my high school doomed themselves to dwarfdom thinking they could somehow weightlift themselves past 6'. It's mostly genetic and there's pretty much nothing you can do to grow faster. Weightlifting even when done carefully can stunt your growth.

ummm, just dont carry stuff on your head. Derek fisher can dunk and he is like 6', just practice jumping every day, that may help you dunk. You dont need to be tall to be in the nba. Earl boykins (clippers) is also 5'6". I can see it now (announcer speaks) "Raised in the slums of ATOT. 'The dunking SG' 'The LongCoolMother' The next Vince Carter. Its (insert your name here)"

I'm 15, in 9th grade, and consider myself short at 5'9", at least after reading the height poll here on ATOT a while back. :(

<< contrary to what many believe, genetics only play about 25% of your height. Other 75% has to do with nutrients, exercise, sleeping well (not staying up late, going to bed between 9-10:30). >>

Ok, how does the time you go to bed influence how tall you are? I mean, let's say I go to bed at 1AM, but I still get 9 hours of sleep, what's the diff?

<< how do I know this? I read this on an article written by a professor who has been studying this for 20 years, forgot his name though. >>

That's too bad, I'd like to see it.

Despite what some will have you believe, milk won't help you grow any taller. I'm 6'6 and I don't drink milk. You are better off with calcium enriched orange juice if your lacking calcium. I think I recall reading that weight lifting stunts growth, so I would just get plenty of rest, eat healthy and exercise but don't over exhert yourself. I think that is the best you can do.

If you've already had a growth spurt be prepared to die at the same height. I had my growth spurt when I was 12 years old, and I haven't grown an inch since (I'm almost 20 now). I am 5'11 btw

Travel to space. Even full grown adults grow a little bit in space, with no gravity pulling them down. or hand upside down next time you have a growth spurt. ;)

yea, generic only matters small portion. eat lotta milk, play sports that relate to running, jumping. and stretch your body before & after sleep. and try not to lift whole lot of weights until you think you are fully grown. by the way, you are only 14 and yet still 5'6". many people are shorter than you anyway. you just gotta accept and live with it.

Just remembr this, even if you never get any taller than 5'7''.. every running back in the nfl (even the short ones) can dunk a basketball....easily.

Since overnutrition is a bigger problem in America than malnutrition, there's probably little you can do about your diet to increase your height. As for exercise, that makes little difference. Your best bet is probably to get as much sleep as you can, since you do all your growing at night.

<< contrary to what many believe, genetics only play about 25% of your height. Other 75% has to do with nutrients, exercise, sleeping well (not staying up late, going to bed between 9-10:30). >>

This is not really something you can quantify. Perhaps if you live in Ethiopia, you are correct, in that getting proper nutrition there may be the exception to the rule if there is a famine and malnutrition is widespread. Almost everyone here in the U.S., however, gets their basic requirements for calcium, protein, and calories. And if vitamins are a problem, that can easily be met with supplements. Genetics is the main determinant for what your height will be.

either that, or get put on a medieval rack and get streched... it does wonders for your cartilage.

Poor guy, I am 24 and 5'4"

You could ge hormone therapy but I doubt they would even consider you. I think you are pretty normal, well a tad on the thin side if you are 5'6" and 120lbs. I am 5'4" and pushing 160lbs
