I am getting married in a week and still have not picked out any songs yet for my reception. What are some decent songs playable at a wedding that will be attended by people of all ages? My music knowledge is very minimal but if you guys throw up some ideas I am sure I wil recognize them and go with it. Thanks :D

i'd say you're in some trouble. Call a DJ and let them deal with it.

With a wedding scheduled for less than a week away, you should be more concerned with a change of identity, and fleeing the country while you can. ;)

Wise words from a married man.

"There Is Love", also known as "The Wedding Song" By Peter Paul and Mary is the best song about Marrage I have ever heard. Also," That's the way I always Heard It Should Be" by Carley Simon

"I Will Be Here" Steven Curtis Chapman - theme song when I got married a few years ago. Busmaster11 was on the right track.

"I love you more today then yesterday" -goldfinger (many others sing it to if, but that's my favorite version)

Holy shnickeys (sp), my wedding is also in a week on the 12th. Early congrats if that is what you call it. Got cold feet yet?

Are you having a DJ or live band? If it is a DJ then they can help you with songs. If he is good then you shouldn't have to worry. If it is a live band then they should have a play list like ours. They can play songs from a cd if you want a specific song, but why would you pay them all that money to play a cd.

Our first dance song is "Crazy Love" by Van Morisson.

You will need a song for the bride/father and one for the groom/mother.

Good Luck and have fun!

Pachelbel's Canon in D, which is actually a pretty popular song at weddings.

Other than that, I would just have personal favorites to pick.

"Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers. It's fits your situation completely...trust me.

Hate to do this....b/c you're got the band right, at least.

Yeah, I had to give a thumbs up to the guy who suggested Extreme (why do I feel old for having liked them), but he didn't have the song titles down. My Extreme suggestions for later on in the marriage: "Pornograffiti" and "Get the Funk Out".
