Help! i need a defragmenter utility for winxp!

I dl the trial version of diskeeper and ended up expiring...I uninstalled it and now windows acts as if its missing and won't run its own defragmenter, I tried looking for the utility on my winxp cd, no luck...

anyone??? diskeeper isn't free anymore, and a crack (earthquake) "won't occur"

Yes, but where can i find it in the cd without reinstalling xp? I at first used the winxp defragmenter, then decided to tryout diskeeper, then my thingy expired and i can't get the winxp one back

try adding and removing the defragmenters through the add/remove windows compnenst in control panel

i tried that, but i couldn't find the folder "system tools" in the add/remove part

god diskkepper is a piece of $hit if it breaks other peoples software.

dfrg.msc is the file windows has for defraging.

dfrg.msc is probably in one of the .cab files on the cd... now if you want to go looking through the cabs is a different matter..

anyways.. go to run and try this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc

if that doesnt work, search your windows drive for dfrg.msc. if it isnt there you'll have to find it on the winXP disk.. (in the .CABs)

Guess what? Mickeysoft's WXP defragger is licensed from Diskeeper. And the commercial one is much better than the bundled version.

The real problem is that NTFS is a lame-brained filesystem that requires regular defragmentation.

I do believe that NTFS was designed to go quite a while in between defrags....
